privacy
What Twist collects, why, and what you can do about it. Updated October 22, 2026.
Twist is run by Basis Lab Development, LLC, which is responsible for the data described here.
the short version
- We keep what it takes to run your account, to count who uses tools, and to see how Twist is used.
- No ads, no tracking across sites, no analytics cookies, and we never sell data.
- What you publish is private until you make it public.
- Email hello@twist.tools to see, fix or delete your data.
your account
- Your email. If you sign in with Google, we also get your name, picture and Google account ID.
- Your profile: name, handle, picture, bio and any links you add. These are public.
- We email you sign-in codes, one welcome note, and news about your tools: a weekly summary when people used, saved or remixed them, and milestones like a tool's first user. Turn those off in settings or with the link in any of them.
- We also email you when a version of your tool is reviewed or a tool is taken down. Those always send.
what you publish
- Your tools' files and every version of them, the media you add, and each tool's name, tagline and about.
- Private tools are only visible to you. A Twist admin may look at one if a check holds a version for review.
- Public tools, your profile and their counts (users, saves, remixes) are visible to anyone.
- A browser on our side opens each new version to check that it loads and takes a screenshot. That's the tool's cover and its preview when it's shared, until you add your own image.
when you use a tool
- We count each person once per tool: by your account if you're signed in, or else by a random ID in a cookie. We don't store IP addresses with it.
- We also note when a tool is opened or goes full screen, and which site linked to it.
- What you save is private. A tool shows how many people saved it, never who.
- Tools are made by their creators, not by Twist. They run on a separate domain, so they can't see your Twist account. If a tool uses other sites, its page lists them, and it can't reach any others; like any web page it can still open links or send what you type somewhere else. What a tool does with what you put in it is up to its creator.
how we see what's working
- To understand how Twist is used, we record what happens on it: pages opened, signing up, publishing, making a tool public, saves, remixes, and which commands connected agents run. Signed in, that's tied to your account. Signed out, you're counted with a code made from your IP address and browser that changes every day, so it can't follow you from one day to the next.
- This uses no cookies and no tracking script. Your location comes from Cloudflare at the city level, never your exact address.
- We send these records to PostHog, our analytics provider, without your email or IP address.
agents you connect
- Connecting an agent like Claude or ChatGPT stores a token so it can publish and update tools for you. It can't see anything else in your account.
- Disconnect agents and revoke tokens any time on connections.
- Your conversations stay with the agent's provider. We only get what the agent sends to publish.
cookies and storage
- A sign-in cookie, for 30 days.
- A random ID for counting users, for a year.
- Short-lived cookies while you sign in with Google.
- Your browser remembers where you left the pull tab and which tools you've seen. That never leaves your browser.
- No ad or analytics cookies.
who else handles data
- Cloudflare hosts Twist: the site, storage, email and the browser that checks tools. Their systems see requests, IP addresses included, to deliver and protect the site.
- Resend sends our email, so it handles your email address and the messages we send you.
- PostHog stores our usage records (see above), without your email or IP address.
- Anthropic runs the safety check: before others see a version of a tool, its screenshot, text and code go to Claude. Nothing about you is sent.
- Google, if you sign in with it. Pages also load the Geist Mono font from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address when it does.
- We don't sell or rent personal data or share it for advertising. We only hand it over when the law requires it.
keeping and deleting
- We keep your data while you have an account.
- Deleting a tool takes it off Twist right away and deletes its files and media.
- A tool keeps the files of its newest 10 versions. Older versions stay in its history without their files.
- Download a copy of everything any time, from settings. To delete your account and everything in it, email hello@twist.tools. We'll do it within 30 days.
- Wherever you live, you can ask to see, correct, export or delete what we have about you.
children
Twist isn't for anyone under 13, or the minimum age where you live if that's higher. If you think a child has an account, email hello@twist.tools and we'll remove it.
changes
When this changes, we'll update this page and its date. If a change matters, we'll email account holders before it takes effect.
